After five decades, a few of the names I recall, others mentioned here, are from the circus program I still have. While the ringmaster kept the audience engaged, this gentleman was the grit that kept the show going. To the performers, it was he with whom they relied, performance after performance. Where there might be concerns for safety (when the lions were featured), he was nearby, ready to intercede. And the wonderful lady was one of the concessionaires. How I wish I could recall their names.
