Military ID (A work in progress.)

The small Cessna, common at airports today, has quite a military history, during the Korean War known as the L-19, then later in Vietnam as the O-1 Bird Dog. It was there it became legendary, used as a scout plane and spotter by Forward Air Controllers, guiding the "fast movers" for close air support. Over 500 Bird Dogs were lost in Vietnam. It was retired from service in 1974. This license plate is ornamental, found in North Carolina.
