From somewhere in the background, the words “knuckle dragger” were volunteered. Those words were aimed at Thomas “Bear” Anderson, after my question, "What did he do during his years in the US Navy?" From 1992-1994 Bear had been a Machinist's Mate, who labored (knuckle dragger) in the Reactor Division aboard CVN-72, the USS Abraham Lincoln. Among other interests, today he leads the Texas VFW Motorcycle Group, thus his license plate. Their purpose is to promote a positive image of the VFW, encourage motorcycling safety programs and motorcycling in general. Of more significance, he also serves as treasurer of Operation Daily Battle, an organization that focuses on veterans' suicide prevention.
