"We come from a very patriotic family, with over a dozen members who have served in the military, many of them with the Marines." So said Tina Hurst, whose husband Bruce, is one of those Marines. Bruce served with a rifle company in the '90s at Windward Point on GTMO, Guantánamo Bay, on Cuba's eastern tip. He told me that he was a 0331, trained as a machine gunner. Tina's spotless Jeep, named "FREEDOM," has carried her specially requested license plate, printed as "FREEDQM" (the "Q" conveniently hidden here), for three years, knowing that someone else was there first, hers requiring the slightly different spelling. The couple, who live in rural Crawford County, Ohio, fly several US flags from their fence posts for Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day holidays.
