Clarence Mardian will win this argument every time, certain that the UH-1 Iroquois, nicknamed the "Huey," is the “greatest helicopter ever made!” The Huey was a utility military helicopter developed by Bell Helicopter, first introduced in 1959. It gained fame for its extensive use during the Vietnam War, serving various roles such as in troop transport, medical evacuation and aerial assault. The Huey left active service in the Army in 2016, however, variants of it are still in use in the USAF, although it is scheduled for replacement. Mr. Mardian proudly served in our military for 31 months, 22 of them in Vietnam with the Army’s 9th Infantry, where he was a Huey gunner.
