My own military service was brief, four years, now well over five decades ago. Each generation that has followed, the Marines and sailors, those who served in the Army, Air Force and Coast Guard, have shared the same sense of duty as did I. Some hold that pride within, others share it more visibly, as here, this proud veteran's license plate seen in Keene, New Hampshire. Approximately 695,000 U.S. service members were deployed during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm; the US led 42-nation coalition to free Kuwait from Saddam Hussein’s grip. The message here is quite simple: Our flag and the motto of New Hampshire, Live Free or Die.
